Devastation Squad, Imperial Fists Centurions
Entry #01 is "Devastation Squad, Imperial Fists Centurions", submitted by Alex Manea. The judges commanded the weathering and battle damage on these models. The paint could have been thinned down more to make the overall texture a bit less overwhelming.
Les "Blinded" Thoraq, Imperial Fist Primaris Captain
Entry #02 is "Les "Blinded" Thoraq, Imperial Fist Primaris Captain", submitted by Ben Effer. The yellow tones used on the model's armour were really interesting, but the paint could have been thinned down more to make the overall texture a bit less overwhelming.
Lord-Celestant Gavriel Sureheart
Entry #03 is "Lord-Celestant Gavriel Sureheart", submitted by Dejan Novitovic. The paintjob on this model was simple but clean and overall very effective. The blends on the face and the shield really worked well, but there was some weakness on the shadows and tone variation to really stand out. More effort could also have been put in the basing.
Venerable Brother Marcellus, the Red Wrath
GOLDEN DJINN 2019 - SILVER - Klaus Hofmann
Entry #04 is "Venerable Brother Marcellus, the Red Wrath", submitted by Klaus Hofmann. The consistency of the paintjob over the whole model was one of the strong points of the model, together with the amazing freehand work and incredible base details. A bit more contrast and tone variation would have been welcome though.
Nephenee, Elf Warrior
GOLDEN DJINN 2019 - BRONZE - Rob van der Wal
Entry #05 is "Nephenee, Elf Warrior", submitted by Rob van der Wal. From an artistic standpoint, the colorscheme - and the choice of green and purple complementary colors - is the strongest point on this model. A bit more highlights, darklining and other finishing touches could have improved the model significantly.
Gutrot Spume, Nurgle Rotbringer
Entry #06 is "Gutrot Spume, Nurgle Rotbringer", submitted by Zaheen Hussain. The puss, weathering and all that slime gives this model a very nurgly feeling. More precision on developping the contrasts and transitions (e.g. the tentacles) would have improved the model significantly.
Dam Septus, Knight of Nurgle
GOLDEN DJINN 2019 - GOLD - Zeyad Nabulsi
Entry #07 is "Dam Septus, Knight of Nurgle", submitted by Zeyad Nabulsi. The paintjob on this model is crisp, and the colorscheme, strongly contrasted between the nurgle theme of the chaos knight and the livery of the base debris, as well as the narrative value of the base are the strongest elements of this model. There is so much going on that the focal point is lost, and the piece could have benefited from more planning and definition to give it more focus.
The Gaze of Isha, Night Spinner
Entry #08 is "The Gaze of Isha, Night Spinner", submitted by Terry Mo. The colorscheme is really great, and the weathering is amazing, with all the layers of paint, dirt, rust, and bare metal. A bit more highlights and shadows would have given this model a lot more relief!
